After seeing his side play a 1-1 away draw against Kano Pillars, Nasarawa United FC is now set to face the defending champions, Rangers International FC, for the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 30 matchup.
The Solid Miners have had a disappointing run in the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, with results falling short of expectations and being mired in relegation waters for several months.
However, to address the club's precarious situation, the management of the team dismissed the erstwhile coach, Kabiru Dogo, after the Match Day 27 fixtures.
Nasarawa United then announced the former Chief Coach of the Super Eagles, Salisu Yusuf, as the new Technical Director of the club.
It was, however, rumored that the former Technical Director, Kabiru Dogo, left after a mutual agreement between the club and the coach.
What the club said:
"Due to the precarious situation of the club, we have decided to make a change. We appreciate Coach Dogo's contributions to the team, but we feel it is time for a new direction."
However, the arrival of Yusuf has greatly improved the results for the Solid Miners, as the team has remained unbeaten in their last four matches, with three draws and one win.
After going to Kano to secure an unprecedented draw, Nasarawa United is poised for a showdown against the defending champions, Rangers International FC.
According to Yusuf, his mandate was to save the team from the jaws of relegation.
"This is not the time to slack. I was brought here for a task, and we are fully set to achieve that when Rangers International FC comes knocking," he said.
Head to Head: Since 2021, Nasarawa United and Enugu Rangers have played 6 games, with Nasarawa United winning 3 and no draws.
