Head Coach of Kun Khalifat FC, Uzoho Obinna, has set his sights on securing promotion to Nigeria's top-flight league.
He stated this in his post-match comments after the Pride of Owerri maintained their grip at the top of the Nigeria National League (NNL) Conference B table with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Abakaliki FC at the Dan Anyiam Stadium on Saturday.
The decisive moment of the match came in the 76th minute when Ahiaeke Chijioke scored the only goal of the game.
The in-form forward, recently named Khalifat’s January Player of the Month, continued his impressive scoring streak, netting his fourth goal in the last three matches.
The head coach expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance while reiterating their ambition for top-flight promotion.
“I have seen my boys play the best with what they have. They played a good game today; they did very well. I applaud my boys for a good performance. My focus is more tactical, and my target is NPFL,” he said.
With this result, Khalifat remains top of the Conference B standings with 22 points, having won seven, drawn one, and lost just once in nine games.
The victory strengthens their push for a spot in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) next season.
Kun Khalifat FC will now turn their attention to their next fixture, an away trip to Madiba FC on Friday, February 21, 2025, as they continue their charge for promotion.
