The Scottish government has approved Glasgow to host a scaled-down version of the 2026 Commonwealth Games, featuring fewer sports and athletes than previous editions.
Originally scheduled for Victoria, Australia, the event was relocated to Glasgow after Victoria withdrew due to rising costs.
The Games will be funded through compensation from the Australian withdrawal and will not incur additional costs to the public, with a total budget estimated at £114 million.
