Quincy Promes, former Netherlands striker, has been handed an 18-month prison sentence for stabbing his cousin in the knee.
The assault occurred during a family gathering in July 2020, and Promes, who currently plays for Spartak Moscow, was found guilty by a Dutch court.
His lawyer has stated that they will file an appeal, as reported by Dutch broadcaster RTL.
Promes, who resides in Russia, did not attend the court hearing. In addition to this case, the 31-year-old was recently charged by Dutch prosecutors for his suspected role in drug trafficking.
