Nigeria seek Paris 2024 Olympics qualifications as Africa Weightlifting Championship berths in Tunisia

Nigeria will today begin their quest for 2024 Olympic Games qualification in weightlifting in Tunisia as two Nigerian lifters, Olarinoye Adijat and Lawal Rafiatu, start their campaign. The duo will be competing in the 59 kg women's category.
On Tuesday, May 16, two Nigerian lifters will be on stage: Joy Eze (71 kg women) and Edidiong Umofia (73 kg men). Nigeria's fifth athlete, Akano Desmond (89 kg men), will round off Nigeria's participation in the championship on Wednesday, May 17.
The athletes expressed optimism and assured Nigerians of a good outing. Olarinoye Adijat and Edidiong Umofia said the athletes were not under pressure to perform, adding that their aspiration was to begin the Olympic Games qualifiers on a high note.
