Mason's Four Wickets Keeps First Youth Test Evenly Poised in Stellenbosch

Posted : 29 January 2025

Chad Mason's four-wicket haul put South Africa's under-19 team in a strong position against England, with the tourists at 275 for 8, leading by 255 runs on the third day of the first youth test at Coetzenburg Oval.

The Proteas had earlier taken a 20-run first-innings lead, thanks to resilient partnerships from Nqobani Mokoena and Raeeq Daniels, before being dismissed for 319.

Despite strong contributions from Thomas Rew (71) and Kesh Fonseka (39), England's lower order fought hard, with Jack Home (34*) anchoring the tail as the match remains evenly poised with one day remaining.
