The Los Angeles Dodgers secured Japanese right-handed pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto in a 12-year agreement valued at around $325 million, alongside a $50.6 million 'posting fee.' Yamamoto, 25, previously played for Orix Buffaloes and attracted interest from various teams, including the New York Yankees.
This signing follows the Dodgers' earlier acquisition of Shohei Ohtani from Japan in a historic $700 million 10-year deal. Ohtani expressed intentions to defer a significant portion of his contract to aid the team's success in Major League Baseball.
