Lawn Tennis Association reduces $1 million fine, ATP Tour repays $500,000

The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) has seen a reduction of its $1 million fine after banning Russian and Belarusian men from last year's grass court events. The fine has been halved, with the men's ATP Tour agreeing to repay $500,000 to the LTA once this summer's events conclude. As a result, Russian and Belarusian players are now free to compete.
 
Furthermore, the ATP has decided to lift the threat of removing the LTA's membership and has restored its full voting rights. Similarly, the women's WTA Tour previously agreed to reduce the $1 million fine by half after an appeal, which affected both the LTA and the All England Club.
 
The ban on players from Russia and Belarus was implemented in 2022 due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. This led to Wimbledon losing ranking points, but this year's tournament has not imposed any nationality-based restrictions on entries.
