Gary O'Neil has been sacked by Bournemouth

Less than seven months after being appointed as Bournemouth's permanent manager, Gary O'Neil has been sacked by the club.

O'Neil initially took over as the interim boss after Scott Parker's dismissal in August and was later given the permanent role in November.

Under his leadership, Bournemouth secured 10 victories out of 34 Premier League games last season, finishing in 15th place.

Bournemouth owner Bill Foley described the decision as a difficult one but believed it was in the best interest of the club's future. The club is set to announce O'Neil's successor soon.

Former Bournemouth player and manager John Williams expressed his shock at the decision and speculated that the club may already have a replacement in mind.

O'Neil's departure marks the end of his first managerial position, following previous roles as an assistant coach with Liverpool Under-23s and Bournemouth. Despite the setback, it is expected that O'Neil will find new opportunities in the world of coaching or management.
