Chelsea's owners, BlueCo, have reached an agreement to acquire a majority stake in French club Strasbourg in Ligue 1.
The exact size of the stake remains undisclosed, but it has been reported that Chelsea will pay around €75 million (£65 million) for close to 100% ownership.
Strasbourg's club president, Marc Keller, described it as an important day for the club and expressed the need for investment to develop their ambitions.
BlueCo, the consortium led by Chairman Todd Boehly, who also purchased Chelsea in a £4.25 billion takeover, expressed their commitment to preserving Strasbourg's heritage and working closely with the existing management team.
They believe that this strategic investment would not only expand their presence in European football but also create opportunities for knowledge and expertise sharing between Strasbourg, Chelsea, and potentially other teams associated with the owners.
