Francesco Bagnaia set a new lap record during free practice for the Emilia Romagna MotoGP at Misano Adriatico, clocking a time of 1:30.286, just 0.018 seconds faster than his previous record.
The defending champion is currently seven points behind championship leader Jorge Martin, who finished second despite a fall at the end of the session.
Ducati can secure their fifth consecutive constructors title if they finish the weekend at least 222 points ahead of KTM, with qualifying set to determine the starting grid for both the sprint and main races.
