Tiafoe Battles Through Illness to Overcome Rinderknech in Australian Open

Frances Tiafoe revealed that he nearly withdrew from his Australian Open first-round match after vomiting on court during a grueling five-set win over Arthur Rinderknech.
Despite the setback, Tiafoe, who attributed the illness to over-hydration rather than the heat, persevered to win 7-6 (7/2), 6-3, 4-6, 6-7 (4/7), 6-3 in 4 hours and 8 minutes.
The two-time US Open semifinalist admitted his recovery after the match was "horrible," but he remained determined to continue. Tiafoe will next face Hungary's Fabian Marozsan, who also triumphed in a five-set contest.
