Lexi Thompson Gets Engaged to Max Provost After Retiring from LPGA Tour

Posted : 03 January 2025

Lexi Thompson, who retired from full-time LPGA Tour play in 2024, marked another personal milestone on New Year's Day with an engagement announcement. The 29-year-old shared the news via Instagram, revealing that her boyfriend, Max Provost, proposed to her in Whistler, British Columbia. Thompson posted a photo of the couple holding hands, with the engagement ring prominently displayed.

Though the couple has kept their relationship mostly private, Provost caddied for Thompson at the Hero World Challenge pro-am in December, and they were seen together at the Solheim Cup red carpet earlier that year. Their engagement comes after Thompson's public declaration of wanting to step away from golf for a while and focus on other aspects of life.

In May, Thompson, who turned professional at 15 and qualified for the US Women's Open at just 12, shared her decision to retire from the LPGA Tour to explore life beyond golf. She expressed a desire to embrace new experiences and priorities, particularly focusing on building a family.

Reflecting on her retirement, Thompson mentioned how golf had defined her life for so long and how she was excited to branch out. "I hope to have a family one day," she said. "And just enjoy every experience of that and be there for every single moment."
