Danielle Collins Responds to Australian Open Booing with Bahamas Vacation Video

Danielle Collins took to social media to show off her "five-star vacation" in the Bahamas, funded by her Australian Open prize money, in response to the hostile reception she received at Melbourne Park. The world number 12 had been jeered by the crowd after defeating Australian Destanee Aiava in the second round, a situation she addressed by stating that the hecklers were essentially contributing to her holiday fund.
In a video shared on Sunday, Collins was seen enjoying her time at a luxury resort with friends. The clip humorously ended with her slapping her backside while playing pickleball, an action that had earlier sparked the crowd’s ire during her match against Aiava. Collins had defended her actions during the tournament, saying that the negative reactions from fans were only benefiting her financially.
This is not the first time Collins has faced a tough crowd in Melbourne, as she was also booed in her third-round loss to Madison Keys in 2022. The American, who was the runner-up in that year’s Australian Open, dismissed the criticism, stating that it was all part of the experience. She emphasized that no one was hurt by the negative energy, suggesting that people needed to lighten up and not take things too personally.
