Dani Alves Seeks New Start in Tenerife After Release from Prison

Dani Alves seeks to turn over a new leaf. The former Barcelona and Brazilian national team defender had been living his dream until December 2022, when he was accused of raping a young woman in a bar in Barcelona. Following a year in jail, the Brazilian soccer star was released, and his wife, model Joana Sanz, forgave him. While he awaits a final sentence after appealing a four-and-a-half-year prison term, along with five years of supervised release, a nine-year ban from the victim, and 150,000 euros in compensation, Alves has decided to leave Barcelona permanently.

 
Seeking to escape the media spotlight, Alves chose to relocate to Tenerife, the birthplace of his wife, Joana Sanz. The couple is searching for a beach house in Santa Cruz, a picturesque area in Spain, aiming for a more tranquil lifestyle. Spanish media reports intensified rumors of their potential move after the couple visited the island last week, combining Sanz's work trip with property viewings.
 

Shortly before Joana's birthday last week, Alves was seen shopping for a gift for her. The 41-year-old former footballer was photographed leaving the store unsteadily, using crutches, although the reason for this remains unclear. Additionally, Alves deactivated his Instagram account, which had over thirty million followers, and then reactivated it following his release from prison. This move seems to be part of his efforts to rebuild his life after the rape allegation that significantly altered his trajectory.
 

It appears that Alves is doing everything he can to reshape his life in the wake of the incident. By stepping away from the chaos in Barcelona and moving to Tenerife with his supportive wife, he hopes to find peace and start anew. Despite the legal uncertainties still looming over him, Alves is focusing on a fresh beginning, far from the limelight and closer to a serene existence.
