2023/2024 NPFL Match Day 3: Malomo Taofeek rescues Shooting Stars against Gombe United

Shooting Stars SC on Match Day 3 of 2023/2024 rallied from a goal down to secure maximum points against hard-fighting Gombe United in one of the matches played on Sunday.

Coach Gbenga Ogunbote started the game with the same lineup that grabbed the home win for the Oluyole Warriors against Plateau United on the opening day of the season but it was the away that opened the scoring in the 15th minute of the game through Aliko Bala with only their first shot-on target to silence the home crowd who came out in large numbers at the Lekan Salami Stadium as the first half ended 0-1 in favour of the away team.

The Savanah Scorpions who grabbed a 2-0 win over the champions Enyimba in the Match Day 2 started the second half brimming with a lot of confidence before Shooting Stars captain Taofeek Malomo got the equalizer in the 54th minute and completed his brace in the 88th minute to put smiles on the faces of the fans at the stadium.

The hard-fought win gave 3Sc their second win of the season and took them to the fifth position on the log table

Shooting stars will next travel to the city of Uyo to take on former champions Akwa United who is yet to win a game this season.
