Alexander Zverev is on the verge of winning his second title of the season as he advanced to the Chengdu Open final. The World No. 10 defeated Grigor Dimitrov with a score of 6-3, 7-6(2). Zverev, who reached the US Open quarter-finals, is in fine form and has not dropped a set in this tournament. He will face Roman Safiullin in the final, who will be competing in his first ATP Tour final.
Zverev's performance in the semi-final was impressive, hitting 21 winners, nine aces, and saving all five break points he faced. He expressed satisfaction with his performance and is looking forward to a high-level final.
His opponent, Roman Safiullin, has been a dangerous player in the tournament, playing aggressively and hitting the ball hard. This week, he has shown exceptional form, making him a formidable opponent in the final.
In Zhuhai, Karen Khachanov reached the final by defeating Sebastian Korda 7-5, 6-4. Khachanov, ranked No. 15 in the world, is seeking his first tour-level title in five years. His opponent in the final will be Yoshihito Nishioka, who secured his place with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Aslan Karatsev.
Meanwhile, British player Katie Boulter faced an early exit in the Ningbo Open in China. She lost a marathon battle to Vera Zvonareva, lasting more than three hours and ending with a score of 4-6, 6-4, 6-7(3). Despite her status as the seventh seed, Boulter couldn't secure the win. Zvonareva, a strong doubles player, achieved an unexpected singles victory.
In another match involving a British player, Jodie Burrage is set to face Tamara Korpatsch in the first round on Tuesday at the Ningbo Open.
