Mexican tennis player Renata Zarazúa and Russian Maria Kozyreva were ousted in the first round of the doubles tournament at the Guadalajara Open AKRON, presented by Santander, after a defeat by the British duo Samantha Murray and Eden Silva. Despite a competitive effort, Zarazúa and Kozyreva lost in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, within 63 minutes.
The match, which concluded the doubles action at the Pan American Tennis Center, saw the British pair take an early lead. Although Zarazúa and Kozyreva fought hard, Murray and Silva capitalized on their triple match points, securing the first set with three breaks against their opponents' single break. In the second set, Zarazúa and Kozyreva initially led with a break to go up 2-0, but Murray and Silva quickly regained control with two breaks, ultimately sealing their victory.
In other results, Colombia's Camila Osorio and Japan's Ena Shibahara were eliminated after failing to convert their advantage, losing 3-6, 6-3, 12-10 to Georgia's Oksana Kalashnikova and Russia's Kamilla Rakhimova. Additionally, Hungarian Timea Babos and Ukrainian Nadiia Kichenok, the second seeds, were upset by American Jessie Aney and German Lena Papadakis with scores of 6-3, 2-6, 10-5. Conversely, Kazakh Anna Danilina and Russian Inna Khromacheva, the third seeds, advanced with a convincing 6-0, 6-2 victory over American Kayla Day and Canadian Rebecca Marino.
