Yana Sizikova gets exonerated of match-fixing two years after being detained

The 28-year-old was detained at Roland Garros in 2021 as part of an inquiry into charges of match-fixing going back to the Grand Slam's 2020 competition.
Sizikova, who is now ranked 50th in doubles, has kept up her tennis since being arrested and will take part in this year's French Open, which gets underway on Sunday.
"After two and a half years of investigation, the Paris Public Prosecutor's Office definitively closed the case on 11 April 2023, considering that criminal proceedings could not be initiated, as the facts of which Ms Sizikova was accused could not be established," her lawyer Frederic Belot told Reuters.
Following allegations of "organised fraud" and "corruption in sports," officials started their investigation in October 2020.
Reporters were informed at the time that the focus of the probe was a first-round match between American partner Madison Brengle and Romanian duo Andreea Mitu and Patricia Maria Tig, which Sizikova and Brengle lost 7-6 (10-8) 6-4.
After betting organisations observed that hundreds of thousands of euros had been bet on a break of serve in the second set, suspicions were apparently aroused.
Sizikova was freed the next day after being detained in 2021.
She and fellow Russian Anastasia Potapova won the Prague Open in July 2022, and Sizikova made two other final appearances the previous year.
On Thursday, Sizikova and American Sabrina Santamaria compete in the Morocco Open semifinals.
