Sun Yingsha secured the Women's Singles title at the WTT Star Contender Ljubljana 2023, defeating Chen Meng in a thrilling seven-game match. As the World No.1, Sun added another title to her collection, outlasting her opponent with a score of 3-11, 8-11, 11-8, 11-6, 14-12, 9-11, 11-6. This victory marks Sun's third WTT Series title of the year, following her successes at Singapore Smash and WTT Champions Xinxiang.
 
In the early stages of the match, Chen dominated with her impenetrable backhand, capitalizing on Sun's mistakes and scoring points by attacking aggressively. Chen took the first two games with her strong play. However, Sun regrouped and adjusted her strategy, targeting Chen's forehand and finding gaps in her opponent's defense. Sun's momentum shifted, and she won three consecutive games to take the lead.
 
Facing possible defeat and trailing 2-6 in the sixth game, Chen unleashed a powerful offensive, securing two consecutive points to force a decider. The final game was dominated by Sun, who maintained a steady lead throughout. With four championship points in hand, Sun closed out the match with an 11-6 victory and claimed her first WTT Star Contender title.
 
Sun acknowledged the tough match and expressed her gratitude for the victory, recognizing the importance of her well-executed shots and her ability to win in the deciding game. The win not only extends her lead at the top of the World Rankings but also serves as a redemption after her recent loss to Miu Hirano in the final of WTT Contender Zagreb.
 
Although Chen Meng fell short in the final, her impressive performance should propel her back to the World No.2 position, which she recently lost to Wang Yidi. The intense match showcased the remarkable skill and determination of both players at the highest level of table tennis.
