The wait is over, the boys have been separated from the men at the WTT Contender Lagos, with the main draw taking centre stage at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall of Teslim Balogun.
In the last four days, some players tasted defeat, while some smiled to the main draw.
The big fight for the $75,000 prize money has started, with all eyes on some of the top players.
Apart from the prize money, the 400 World Ranking points will be waiting at the top of the podium for the singles winners.
Germany’s Dimitrij Ovtcharov, who has become Lagos fans’ favourite since his arrival, is out to end his title drought as he aims for his first WTT Series title since 2021.
In the Women’s Singles, 18-year-old Shin Yubin of Korea will be the focus as the top seed, as the women’s doubles vice champion at the World Championships in Durban will be aiming for her first title in Africa.
But she will face a familiar foe in Lagos fans’ favourite, Dina Meshref of Egypt, who is second seed.
The Egyptian Meshref will be relying on continental support from the fans in her maiden WTT Contender Series title.
