Wang Chuqin began his quest for a third consecutive WTT Champions Macao title with a commanding 3-0 win over Wong Chun Ting (11-5, 11-9, 11-9). The defending champion from 2022 and 2023, energized by strong support at the Macao East Asian Games Dome, quickly took control of the match, setting a fast and aggressive pace from the start.
Despite Wong Chun Ting's resilience, particularly in the third game where he led 7-4, Wang regained his rhythm and closed out the match with authority. Wang acknowledged that he hadn’t expected such a decisive win due to limited training but credited key moments in the first game for building his confidence. His serves at a crucial 5-5 juncture in the opening game helped him gain the upper hand.
In another notable match, Dang Qiu defeated Lim Jonghoon in four games (11-6, 11-5, 9-11, 11-4), renewing their rivalry after a five-game thriller earlier in the year. Qiu’s victory secured him a spot in the last 16, where he will face Mattias Falck, continuing his strong performance.
On the women’s side, Wang Yidi showcased her dominance with a swift 3-0 win over Mo Zhang (11-1, 11-5, 11-7), while Mima Ito also cruised into the round of 16 after defeating Elizabeta Samara (11-8, 13-11, 11-5). Ito's next challenge will be Joo Cheonhui, setting up an exciting rematch after their close encounter earlier this season.
