Sahith Theegala secured his inaugural PGA Tour victory at the Fortinet Championship, while Justin Thomas' late push faltered.
The 25-year-old American began the final round in Napa, California, with a two-shot lead and gained three shots in the first five holes. His round of 68 featured seven birdies and three bogeys.
Justin Thomas, a Ryder Cup captain's selection, was tied for second place after the third round but struggled with four bogeys in the front nine. The 30-year-old former world number one finished with a level par 72, securing fifth place.
Theegala effectively clinched the win on the 14th hole with a remarkable 20-foot birdie putt, extending his lead to five shots over South Korea's SH Kim, who finished two shots behind in second place. Australia's Cam Davis followed closely in third place.
"It doesn't feel real, it's probably not going to sink in for a while," Theegala expressed. "But man, there was a lot of good golf, and that was probably the most fun I've had on a golf course in my life. Family and friends cheering me on, it's mind-blowing. This feeling is incredible, and I couldn't have done it without my whole team and everyone out here. It's a team effort, and for me to put it together like this means the world."
Justin Thomas' Ryder Cup teammate, Max Homa, who had won the tournament for the last two years, finished two shots behind Theegala after a closing round of 69, alongside England's Callum Tarren and American Matt Kuchar.
