Paula Badosa praised Aryna Sabalenka's performance after the Belarusian world No. 1 dominated their Australian Open semifinal match on Thursday, winning 6-4, 6-2. Badosa likened Sabalenka’s play to the precision and ease of a video game, describing it as "like she's playing a PlayStation."
The Spanish player, who is seeded 11th, acknowledged that there was nothing she could do to stop Sabalenka, who appeared unstoppable throughout the match.
Badosa was full of admiration for her close friend’s performance, calling it the best match Sabalenka has played in recent months. She congratulated her opponent, stating that if Sabalenka continues to play at this level, the title was already hers.
Badosa admitted that she felt overwhelmed on the court, unable to keep up with Sabalenka’s relentless pace and power, which showcased exactly why Sabalenka holds the top spot in women's tennis.
Despite the defeat, Badosa was proud of her achievement in reaching her first Grand Slam semifinal, especially after struggling with a back injury last year that nearly forced her to quit tennis. Following the match, the two shared some encouraging words.
Sabalenka praised Badosa’s recent improvement, noting that it took her three semifinals to win a title and expressing pride in her friend’s progress.
