Heather Watson secured her place in the Poland Open quarter-finals after a hard-fought victory over Yuliya Hatouka. The 31-year-old British player battled through three sets, eventually winning 6-2, 5-7, 6-1. In the next round, she will face her Belgian doubles partner, Yanina Wickmayer.
Unfortunately, British number two, Jodie Burrage, couldn't advance further as she suffered a defeat against Italian world number 108 Lucrezia Stefanini in Warsaw. Burrage lost 6-4, 6-1, after initially taking a 4-3 lead in the first set but ultimately faced a tough turnaround in the second.
In the women's doubles, Heather Watson and Yanina Wickmayer teamed up to secure a thrilling victory against British duo Olivia Nicholls and Alicia Barnett in the second round. After a tight match, Watson and Wickmayer emerged victorious with a 6-2, 5-7, 10-7 scoreline.
Despite Burrage's exit, Watson's success in reaching the quarter-finals at the Poland Open is a positive sign for British tennis. Fans will be eager to see how she performs in the next stage of the tournament.
