Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur has announced the early end of her 2024 tennis season due to a persistent shoulder injury. The three-time Grand Slam runner-up, currently ranked 22nd in the world, has faced several fitness challenges this year and was forced to withdraw from major tournaments such as Cincinnati, Washington, and the US Open, in addition to missing the Paris Olympics due to knee concerns.
Jabeur shared on social media that the decision to step away from the circuit for the remainder of the season was made with her medical team's guidance. She described the year as particularly challenging and acknowledged that recovery is a crucial part of an athlete’s career.
During her time away from competition, Jabeur plans to focus on charitable initiatives while she recovers. She anticipates making her return to the sport at the Australian Open early next year.
