Posted : 24 July 2023
Novak Djokovic will not be participating in the upcoming Canadian Open in Toronto due to fatigue, as confirmed by the tournament organizers. The 36-year-old Serbian recently lost a grueling five-set Wimbledon final to Spain's world number one Carlos Alcaraz just a week ago.
In Djokovic's absence, American Christopher Eubanks will take his place in the main draw. Djokovic expressed his enjoyment of playing in Canada but stated that after discussions with his team, they believe it is the right decision to skip the tournament.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion has previously been successful at the Toronto Masters event, having claimed the title four times in the past. Despite his impressive track record at the tournament, Djokovic has decided to prioritize his recovery and rest.
The Toronto Masters event is scheduled to begin on 7th August, and Djokovic's withdrawal will be a notable absence from the competition. Nonetheless, the tournament organizers and fans understand his decision, and they appreciate his previous contributions to the event.
