Novak Djokovic advanced to the quarterfinals of Wimbledon after defeating Hubert Hurkacz in a match that spanned two days. During the match, Djokovic was seen with a piece of metal glued to a Band-Aid in the middle of his chest, sparking curiosity among spectators and media.
Djokovic previously mentioned the "chip" at Roland Garros but did not provide details, jokingly attributing it to his admiration for Iron Man.
The mystery behind the chip has been revealed by the Serbian newspaper Korir. It is a patented medical device manufactured in Italy that utilizes nanocrystals to convert the body's natural infrared heat.
The device emits light that acts on acupuncture points, relaxing muscles, improving body movement, restoring joints, relieving pain, and enhancing physical performance. It does not emit chemicals and is said to have positive effects on athletes.
In the quarterfinals, Djokovic will face Russia's Andrey Rublev. Djokovic acknowledged that Rublev poses a different challenge and expects tougher matches moving forward in the tournament.
He recognizes Rublev's status as a top-10 player and his desire to reach his first career Grand Slam semi-final. Djokovic hopes to continue his quest for a 24th Grand Slam title by overcoming Rublev's challenge.
