Novak Djokovic to make rare doubles appearance at Cincinnati Open, skips Canadian Open due to fatigue

Novak Djokovic is making a rare appearance in doubles at the upcoming Cincinnati Open as part of his preparations for the Davis Cup and the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The world No. 2, who hasn't played since losing in the Wimbledon final to Carlos Alcaraz, will skip the Canadian Open due to fatigue but will participate in the ATP Masters 1000 event in Cincinnati before heading to the US Open.
In Cincinnati, Djokovic will team up with fellow Serbian Nikola Cacic. They have previously played doubles three times together, and Djokovic has won one doubles title in his career. Although he has only played doubles sparingly in recent times, Djokovic seems keen to compete in both singles and doubles at Cincinnati.
Djokovic's participation in the Davis Cup is confirmed, as Serbia aims to reach the finals. They will face Spain, Czech Republic, and South Korea in the group stage in September, shortly after the US Open.
By playing in the Davis Cup, Djokovic will meet the qualifying criteria for the Paris 2024 Olympics, where he is eager to win a gold medal. He previously participated in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in mixed doubles and intends to compete in both singles and doubles next summer.
Tennis at Paris 2024 will take place at Roland-Garros, where Djokovic won the French Open earlier this year. He looks forward to the Olympics and hopes to achieve his best Olympic result on the clay courts of Roland-Garros in Paris.
Tennis at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games is scheduled to start on July 27. Djokovic's involvement in doubles at Cincinnati with Cacic could also be a potential partnership for the Davis Cup and the Olympics.
