Lulu Sun Reaches First WTA Final with Win Over Ekaterina Alexandrova

Lulu Sun continued her impressive run by defeating third seed Ekaterina Alexandrova 7-5, 3-6, 7-6(6) at the Monterrey Open on Friday, securing a spot in her first WTA-level final. The unseeded Sun, who made headlines in July by reaching the Wimbledon quarterfinals and eliminating Emma Raducanu, showcased her strong serving and power with 17 aces in the match.

 

Sun's victory was a closely contested battle, with the final set being decided in a tiebreak. Her performance demonstrated resilience and skill, particularly in the crucial moments of the match against her Russian opponent.

 

The 23-year-old Sun is set to compete for the title against either Czech Linda Noskova or American Emma Navarro in Saturday's final. Following this win, Sun will break into the top 50 of the WTA rankings for the first time.
