South Africa’s Lloyd Harris displayed remarkable resilience in the second round of Wimbledon, ultimately losing to 14th-ranked ATP player Ben Shelton in a thrilling five-set match.
Harris, 27, began the match on a strong note, winning the first set 6-4 without facing any break points and serving 10 aces. However, the second set proved to be more challenging as Shelton, 21, forced a tiebreaker and emerged victorious.
In the third set, Harris managed to regain his momentum and won another tiebreaker, but Shelton fought back to claim the fourth set. The decisive fifth set saw Shelton demonstrating exceptional skill under pressure, advancing to the third round of Wimbledon for the first time in his career.
Meanwhile, Tennis South Africa and American Express are set to host the Amex Tennis Town at Montecasino, a first-of-its-kind fan park in South Africa, from July 5 to 7 and July 12 to 14.
