Kyoka Idesawa claimed her first WTT Feeder Series title in a thrilling Women’s Singles final at WTT Feeder Vila Nova de Gaia 2024, defeating No.4 seed Wang Xiaotong 9-11, 12-10, 5-11, 11-5, 11-9.
Idesawa, who had already impressed with a semifinal run in Düsseldorf just the previous week, made a strong statement in Vila Nova de Gaia with her remarkable performance, proving she was ready to compete at the highest level.
After a dominant 3-0 victory over Women’s Singles champion Chen Yi from Düsseldorf (11-9, 11-7, 11-8), Idesawa continued her strong form, securing a place in her first WTT final with another straight games win over Maria Xiao (11-5, 11-8, 11-8).
With the momentum on her side, Idesawa fought back from a 1-2 deficit in the final to seal a historic victory, showcasing her resilience and determination.
Meanwhile, in the Men’s Singles competition, Zhou Qihao marked his return to the winner’s circle after 17 months, overcoming Kazuki Hamada 3-1 in a hard-fought final (6-11, 11-9, 11-7, 11-8).
This victory, which came after his last WTT title at the 2023 WTT Contender Lagos, was a significant milestone for Zhou, re-establishing himself as a top contender on the international stage.
