British number one Katie Boulter delivered a commanding performance to defeat former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu, winning 6-2, 6-1 in just over an hour to secure her place in the semi-finals of the Pan Pacific Open. Boulter, currently ranked 33rd in the world, showcased her skill by breaking Andreescu's serve five times, including in the Canadian's opening service game.
Following her dominant victory, Boulter expressed her satisfaction with her performance, stating, "I played really well today. I came out here with nothing to lose. I just wanted to come out and enjoy it. Everything was kind of clicking and, apart from the first service game, everything was really good." Her confidence shone through as she controlled the match against Andreescu, who struggled to find her rhythm.
Looking ahead, Boulter will face American wildcard Sofia Kenin in the semi-finals. Kenin earned her spot by defeating Russian third seed Daria Kasatkina 6-4, 6-4 in the quarter-finals, setting the stage for an exciting clash on Saturday as both players vie for a place in the final.
