Russia's top seed Daria Kasatkina and Brazil's Beatriz Haddad Maia will face off in the Korea Open final after winning their respective semifinals in straight sets. Kasatkina secured her place with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over fellow Russian Diana Shnaider, while Haddad Maia triumphed 6-4, 6-4 against Veronika Kudermetova. The semifinals and quarterfinals were held on the same day in Seoul due to rain delays from the previous day.
Kasatkina's semifinal win came after a challenging day in which Shnaider required medical attention during the match. Despite 11 breaks of serve, Kasatkina maintained her composure to advance to the final. Earlier, Kasatkina had progressed past Britain's Emma Raducanu in the quarterfinal after Raducanu retired with a foot injury.
Haddad Maia had a strong showing in her quarterfinal, defeating Polina Kudermetova 6-2, 6-1 before beating her sister Veronika Kudermetova in the semifinal. Despite tricky weather conditions, including changing winds, Haddad Maia kept her momentum to reach her second final in three tournaments.
The upcoming final will be the fourth meeting between Kasatkina and Haddad Maia, with the Brazilian leading their head-to-head 2-1. Kasatkina, however, won their most recent encounter in Abu Dhabi earlier this year. Both players expressed their determination to improve their game ahead of the final in Seoul.
