Jannik Sinner Races to Be Fit for French Open After Hip Injury

Posted : 19 May 2024

World No. 2 Jannik Sinner has resumed training in an effort to be fit for the French Open after missing the Rome Open due to a right hip injury. The Italian shared photos on social media of himself practicing on a clay court in Monaco, signaling his determination to compete in the second Grand Slam of the season, which begins on May 26.

Sinner had to withdraw from the Rome Open and the Madrid Open earlier this month due to his hip injury, which forced him to retire before his quarterfinal match in Madrid. He stated that he would only participate in the French Open if he was fully recovered, emphasizing the importance of not risking his long-term career for short-term gains.

Despite acknowledging that his preparation for Roland Garros will not be ideal, Sinner remains committed to giving his best effort to compete. The 22-year-old, who won his first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in January and his second Masters 1000 title in Miami in March, is focused on making a strong return to the court in Paris.
