Italian Open: Roberto Carballes Baena defeats Dan Evans in a hard-fought contest

After being defeated by Spain's Roberto Carballes Baena in a gruelling three-set second-round match, Britain's Dan Evans' dismal performance at the Italian Open continues.
The season's longest best-of-three-set match saw the British number two defeated 7-6 (7-5) 5-7 6-4 in three hours and 48 minutes.
The 20th seed Evans, who did not play in the main draw of the Rome competition, received a bye in the first round.
Evans had a 5-2 lead in the opening set and was serving for it when Carballes Baena, who had defeated them in three sets in Marrakech earlier this month, recovered to get within one point at 6-5 before the rain delay.
When play resumed, Evans was able to break his opponent and force a tie-break, but the continual danger of rain gave the world number 51 an advantage.
The world number 51 Carballes Baena had a sloppy service game at 5-5 in the second set, which allowed Evans to break and subsequently serve out the set to tie the match.
