Italian Open: Casper Ruud wins, Holger Rune sets up a match against Fabio Fognini

After defeating Arthur Fils, Holger Rune anticipates his Italian Open last-16 match against hometown favourite Fabio Fognini to be "wild." Casper Ruud also advanced in Rome.

The world No. 7 defeated 18-year-old Fils 6-3 6-3 to advance as he attempts to recover from a discouraging third-round exit at the Madrid Open.

"It's going to be wild, for sure," Rune said.

“But this is great because this is what tennis is about. You already hear the football match atmosphere now and this is great, it's fun. It brings tennis to another level and I'm super excited for it."

When he advanced to the Monte Carlo final in April and fell to Andrey Rublev, Rune's clay-court season campaign got off to a great start. However, he will face a loud home crowd in his upcoming encounter.

Meanwhile, Fognini wins against 15-year-old opponent in Rome.
