Poland's Iga Swiatek confirmed her participation in the Billie Jean King Cup Finals, scheduled to take place in Malaga this November. In the opening match, she will face the host nation, Spain. This announcement came from the world No. 2 herself, who expressed her enthusiasm about the upcoming event.
Since her quarterfinal exit at the US Open in September, where she lost to Jessica Pegula, Swiatek has not competed in any tournaments. She opted out of the WTA tour's Asian swing, citing fatigue as the reason, which resulted in her dropping from the No. 1 ranking to Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka.
In a social media post, Swiatek shared her excitement, stating, "See you in Malaga! I'm happy to announce that I will play in the BJKC Finals." She emphasized her commitment to representing Poland with pride, indicating that she and her team will give their utmost effort on the court.
Swiatek has also undergone a coaching change, parting ways with Tomasz Wiktorowski earlier this month. She has since welcomed Wim Fissette to her coaching team. In addition to the Billie Jean King Cup Finals, Swiatek is set to compete in the WTA Finals in Riyadh in November, where she will have the opportunity to reclaim the top spot in the world rankings.
