Iga Swiatek defeats Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in a double-bagels match, race to third consecutive Italian Open title

Iga Swiatek's quest for a third straight Italian Open triumph got off to the best possible start as the top seed defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in a crushing double-bagel victory.
Swiatek won her match against Lesia Tsurenko or the 28th seed Bernarda Pera in 67 minutes because to her ruthless attitude while playing in the sunlight of Rome.
The No. 1 player in the world left for Rome after losing the Madrid Open final to Aryna Sabalenka, and she is still looking for her first WTA 1000 championship of the year.
She won the WTA 500 competitions in Doha and Stuttgart, and she's now aiming to defend her Rome title before the French Open later in May.
In her quest for victory in Italy, the 21-year-old is sure to steer clear of Sabalenka this time following the second seed's shocking departure on Thursday against 134th-ranked Sofia Kenin, after which she described herself as "exhausted."
Swiatek didn't appear to be exhausted after her efforts in Spain, if she was feeling that way at all.
As soon as play began, the Pole seized control of the situation, breaking Pavlyuchenkova twice in a row to swiftly take a 5-0 lead.
The world No. 1 broke again to win the first set 6-0 in only 34 minutes, forcing the Russian to make a last-ditch effort to escape a bagel on service.
Although Swiatek recorded her 30th bagel set since the start of the 2022 season, Pavlyuchenkova was able to stave off eight of the 11 break points she faced in the opening set.
