Iga Swiatek, the world number two, secured her fifth title of the year by defeating Liudmila Samsonova in the final of the China Open. The Polish player added this victory to her already impressive list of titles in Doha, Stuttgart, Roland Garros, and Warsaw, clinching a 6-2, 6-2 triumph in Beijing.
During the match, Swiatek, 22 years old, displayed her dominance by not allowing Samsonova, the world number 22 from Russia, to create a single break point opportunity. This put immense pressure on Samsonova, who struggled to cope with Swiatek's skill.
The final was relatively quick, lasting only 69 minutes, as Swiatek claimed her 16th career title. She gained an early advantage in the match by breaking Samsonova's serve in the sixth game, following a double fault by her opponent. Swiatek then continued to impress by winning the opening set without committing any unforced errors.
In the second set, Swiatek's exceptional serve helped her establish a 4-1 lead. She sealed her victory as Samsonova made another error at the net. Despite the defeat, Samsonova had a strong performance throughout the week, defeating notable players such as the fifth seed Elena Rybakina, the 12th seed Petra Kvitova, and the 13th seed Jelena Ostapenko. This successful run ensured her return to the world's top 20 rankings.
