Iga Swiatek and Carlos Alcaraz dominate ATP and WTA rankings

As the North American hard-court summer gets underway with the Citi Open in Washington DC, Iga Swiatek and Carlos Alcaraz currently hold the top spots in the ATP and WTA rankings, respectively.
Swiatek has been the world No. 1 for 70 consecutive weeks, closely followed by Aryna Sabalenka. Alcaraz, on the other hand, has recently reclaimed the top spot after winning Queen's and has been alternating with Novak Djokovic for the ATP No. 1 ranking.
Heading into the US Open, both Swiatek and Alcaraz have slender leads and will need to defend their maximum ranking points during the tournament.
Djokovic is the main contender to challenge Alcaraz's top position, currently trailing by 430 points. With 3,000 points up for grabs in the Cincinnati Open and US Open, Djokovic has a chance to bridge the gap and regain the No. 1 spot.
Swiatek's position as world No. 1 was almost in jeopardy at Wimbledon, but Sabalenka's loss in the semi-finals kept her at bay.
However, Sabalenka remains within striking distance and could close the gap if she performs well in the upcoming Canadian Open and Cincinnati Open.
Swiatek, on the other hand, has room for improvement in these tournaments to extend her lead.
As for Elena Rybakina, who is currently world No. 3, she is far behind Swiatek and out of contention for the top spot at the moment. The battle for the No. 1 rankings in both ATP and WTA is sure to add excitement to the North American hard-court summer.
