Holger Rune defeats Casper Ruud to complete his comeback and moves to Italian Open final

In the Italian Open semifinals, Holger Rune outlasted Casper Ruud with a rallying 6-7(2) 6-4 6-2 victory.
Rune advanced to this level by defeating Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals after a spirited battle.
With a two-set triumph over Francisco Cerundolo, Ruud had an easier time.
The two had not gotten along since their contentious encounter at the French Open, and this was their first meeting since then.
Rune, 20, won on clay in the Bavarian Open this year after finishing second in the Monte-Carlo Masters.
Both players were expecting for success to climb the world rankings because Ruud already won the 2023 Estoril Open.
In the tie-break that followed the opening set, Ruud quickly prevailed by a score of 7-2.
Midway through the second set, Ruud won a break that may have been crucial, but the Dane broke back to tie the game and force a decisive third set.
Rune dominated the third set as he underlined his authority, giving him a chance to win his second championship of the season while Ruud only converted one of his six break opportunities to conclude the match.
To determine who will play Rune in Sunday's final, Daniil Medvedev will face Stefanos Tsitsipas in the other semi-final of the day.
