Heather Watson through to quarter-finals, but Liam Broady and Arthur Fery fail to win

In the Nottingham Open, Heather Watson advanced to the quarter-finals with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Tatjana Maria.
Despite being ranked lower at No. 195 in the world compared to Maria's No. 66 ranking, Watson managed to break Maria's serve twice in each set. Her next opponent will be Viktorija Golubic, the Swiss world No. 99.
Reflecting on her win against Maria, Watson expressed her satisfaction with her progress and looked forward to her upcoming match. She mentioned that Maria is her close friend and it's both challenging and special to compete against someone with whom she has a strong bond.
In the previous year's Nottingham Open, Watson lost to Golubic in the round of 16, but she is excited to have another opportunity to play against her. Meanwhile, Naomi Broady faced Sho Shimabukuro and lost 7-6(7-4), 6-4.
Despite being ranked higher at No. 151 compared to Shimabukuro's No. 177, Broady couldn't capitalize on her chances. In another match, Alexis Fery, ranked No. 409, was defeated by Dominik Koepfer, the fifth seed from Germany who is ranked No. 95.
Although Fery secured his first main-draw win on the Challenger Tour by defeating Steven Johnson, he couldn't maintain his momentum in the match against Koepfer. Fery acknowledged the tough competition and praised his opponent's aggressive play.
Andy Murray, coming off his Surbiton Trophy victory, is set to face Hugo Grenier on Thursday. Katie Boutler, Jodie Burrage, and Harriet Dart are also scheduled to play their matches on the same day.
