Hamad Medjedovic dominates Red Group, secures semi-final berth at Next Gen ATP finals

Hamad Medjedovic has dominated the Red Group at the Next Gen ATP Finals presented by NEOM, securing a spot in the semi-finals with a flawless 3-0 group campaign in Jeddah. His latest victory, a hard-fought 3-4(6), 4-2, 4-3(5), 4-2 against Abdullah Shelbayh, solidified his first-place finish in the group. Medjedovic needed to win at least a set to advance, and the win also qualified Luca Van Assche at Shelbayh's expense. The Serbian showcased a strong performance, hitting 18 aces and maintaining an impressive 88% first-serve points won.

 

Reflecting on his victory and acknowledging Shelbayh's talent, Medjedovic expressed his pleasure in playing in front of the crowd in Jeddah. With the semi-final stage now set, Medjedovic, as the Red Group winner, is geared up to face Dominic Stricker on Friday. He recognized Stricker as a great player and anticipates a challenging but exciting match.

 

Medjedovic's stellar serving has been a highlight, leading the tournament with 45 aces across his three group-stage matches. He emphasized his growing comfort on the court, adapting quickly to the new rules at the Next Gen ATP Finals. The Serbian looks forward to continuing his improved performance in the knockout rounds, aiming to build on his success in the semi-finals.
