The group also features the United States and Slovakia, with Germany having previously defeated Slovakia 3-0.
In Group D, Canada secured a 3-0 win over Finland in Manchester, England, without dropping a set. Similarly, Australia triumphed 3-0 against an injury-affected Czech Republic in Group B, held in Valencia, Spain. Meanwhile, in Group A in Bologna, Italy, the Netherlands edged out Brazil 2-1, clinching victory with a win in the doubles match.
In Zhuhai, German players Maximilian Marterer and Yannick Hanfmann won their singles matches in straight sets. Marterer defeated Tomas Barrios Vera, while Hanfmann overcame 22nd-ranked Alejandro Tabilo with a score of 7-5, 6-4. The doubles team of Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz then sealed the tie by beating Barrios Vera and Matias Soto 6-1, 6-3. Germany captain Michael Kohlmann expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, noting that they have achieved six wins out of six matches.
In other matches, Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov led their team to victory against Finland, and Australia’s Alexei Popyrin and Matthew Ebden helped their side to a 3-0 win over the Czech Republic. The Netherlands secured their 2-1 victory against Brazil with a decisive doubles performance. The top two teams from each group will advance to the eight-team final in Malaga, Spain, scheduled for November 19-24.
