Emma Raducanu, currently ranked 55th in the world, has shared that she is making "good progress" in her recovery from a foot injury, although she has decided to withdraw from yet another tournament. The 21-year-old British tennis player announced on Wednesday that she would not participate in the Hong Kong Open, scheduled to begin on October 28. Raducanu has been sidelined since injuring ligaments in her foot during the quarter-finals of the Korea Open against Daria Kasatkina on September 21.
This marks the fifth consecutive tournament that Raducanu has opted out of, and she has only participated in two events since July. In a message on X, she expressed her optimism about her recovery, stating that while her foot is healing well, she requires additional time to reach match fitness. Raducanu emphasized her desire to return to competitive play, hoping to participate in the tournament in the future.
Looking ahead, Raducanu is targeting a return to the court for the Billie Jean King Cup finals, which will be held in Malaga from November 13 to 20. Britain's first match in the tournament is against Germany on November 15, and Raducanu is eager to be fit and ready for this important competition.
