Emma Raducanu was eliminated from the Miami Open in the first round after losing to Bianca Andreescu in three sets; Andreescu defeated Raducanu 6-3, 3-6, 6-2; while defending champion Iga Swiatek withdrew from the competition due to a rib ailment.
Emma Raducanu lost to Bianca Andreescu in a matchup of past US Open champions, and she was eliminated from the Miami Open in the first round.
"Both of us have won a [Grand Slam], we're both good players," said Raducanu. "It was always going to be a difficult matchup but I think that there were definitely patches of some pretty good tennis in there."
In her first competition since losing in the second round of the Australian Open in January, Raducanu defeated the world No. 1 Iga Swiatek in the round of 16 in Indian Wells last week.
After breaking Raducanu in the opening set's first service game, Andreescu, whose run in Indian Wells last week was also interrupted by Swiatek, pushed the Brit to preserve break points at 1-4 and a set point at 2-5.
