Emma Raducanu Defeats Magda Linette in Straight Sets to Get to the Third Round

Emma Raducanu defeated Polish 20th seed Magda Linette in straight sets, 7-6 (7-3) 6-2, to advance to the third round of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells.
After falling behind 4-1 in the opening set, Raducanu broke back and forced a tie break, which she won 7-3.

The second set was much easier; Raducanu took an early break and quickly built a 4-1 lead, which she maintained to advance easily to the third round.
Raducanu is competing in her first tournament since losing to Coco Gauff, due to the recurrence of a wrist issue that bothered her last season, the participation of the 20-year-old was in question.

After the game, Raducanu discussed her challenges with injuries but claimed She wouldn't want to alter the direction of her professional career.
In the third round, the 2021 US Open champion will play either the 13th-seeded Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia or the Czech Katerina Siniakova.
