Novak Djokovic has revealed that his leg injury, which forced him to withdraw from the Australian Open, is nearly fully healed. The Serbian star, who had to retire from his semifinal match against Alexander Zverev, confirmed that there is no longer a muscle tear and that he has been given medical clearance to resume training. With the Qatar Open set to begin on February 17, Djokovic remains committed to his schedule and is eager to get back on the court in pursuit of more victories.
The 37-year-old had struggled with the injury during his quarterfinal win over Carlos Alcaraz in Melbourne before it ultimately ended his campaign. Despite the setback, Djokovic is determined to reach his 100th ATP title, a milestone achieved only by Jimmy Connors and Roger Federer.
He acknowledged that injuries have become more frequent as he ages but remains confident in his physical condition and his passion for the sport. He has been chasing this milestone since October and believes it will come in due time.
Djokovic has faced injury setbacks before, notably missing the French Open quarterfinals last year due to a knee injury that required meniscus surgery. However, he made a swift recovery and returned in time for Wimbledon, where he finished as runner-up to Alcaraz. He later claimed his first Olympic gold medal by defeating the Spaniard at Roland Garros. With his latest injury now behind him, Djokovic is focused on competing in Doha and adding another chapter to his illustrious career.
