Cameron Norrie made a successful return to the British grass courts at Queen's after reaching the semi-finals at Wimbledon last year.
The fifth-seeded Norrie defeated Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia with a confident 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) victory on the tournament's first day. Another British player, Ryan Peniston, who received a wildcard, also impressed with a surprising 6-4, 6-2 win over France's Ugo Humbert, ranked 37th in the world.
Later in the day, Britain's second-highest ranked player, Dan Evans, will attempt to secure a third consecutive home victory when he faces American Sebastian Korda.
Additionally, Jan Choinski, ranked 167th, given a wildcard, will take on Italian fifth seed Lorenzo Musetti to round off a busy day for the British contingent.
Former world number one Andy Murray, fresh off his victory in the ATP Challenger tournament in Nottingham, is scheduled to play his opening match against Australian seventh seed Alex de Minaur on Tuesday.
